Perplexity started as an AI search tool. Now, it is quickly becoming one of the biggest names in the AI race. Nvidia is reportedly discussing an investment in Perplexity as part of a new funding round that could value the company at more than $30 billion.
That is a big jump from Perplexity’s previous valuation of around $20 billion.
The company is also growing beyond search. Its newer product, Perplexity Computer, is designed to help users complete larger work tasks with AI instead of only answering questions. Perplexity’s annualized revenue has also grown fast, reportedly rising from under $250 million at the start of the year to more than $750 million.
If Nvidia joins the round, it would give Perplexity more than just fresh money. It would also give the company backing from one of the most important players in the AI industry.

Google’s Gemma family has reached a huge milestone: more than 1 billion downloads. Gemma was built to give developers smaller, open models they can download, customize, and use in their own projects.
What makes this milestone interesting is the community around it. Google says developers have created more than 100,000 Gemma variants, showing how widely the models are now being used. Gemma is also moving far beyond simple demos. Developers are using it in areas like healthcare, education, science, and research.
The big takeaway is simple: the AI world is not only about ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude. More developers also want models they can control and adapt for their own needs.

Alibaba is making it clear that AI is one of its biggest priorities. The company has launched a $10.2 billion share sale and says the money will be used to grow its AI business. That includes spending on chips, data centers, infrastructure, and new AI models.
Alibaba has already been investing heavily in AI through its Qwen models and cloud business. Now it wants even more computing power to keep up with global competitors. The move did worry some investors because issuing new shares can reduce the value of existing holdings, and Alibaba’s stock fell after the announcement.
But the larger story is that the AI race is becoming extremely expensive. Companies are no longer spending only on better models. They are spending billions on the hardware and infrastructure needed to run them.
